Get Inspired

This week is, for me, the first “real” week of the new year. The actual first week was cut short by what was supposed to be a quick trip to Miami for a family event; due to the snow and ice storm that hit Atlanta last week, our stay was extended by four days and we enjoyed an impromptu vacation. Felt pretty lucky to be "stuck" in the only U.S. state without snow! That was last week; this week things are back to “normal,” and so I am faced with the reality that my extended contract position at TBS ended last month and it's time to get inspired and make something happen. I’ve been surfing around in order to fill my brain with new images and ideas, and thought I’d share a few of the great sites I've come across. If you have anything to add to the mix that you find particularly inspiring, please drop me a note and I’ll add to the list. Inspiration is something we can never have too much of!

Camera shopping...which way to go?

Lately, I have been looking into buying a new camera; actually, I'm always looking into buying a new camera. Seems like each time I purchase one, I upgrade slightly from the last. But I haven't yet splurged and bought one of the SLR cameras that I've had my eye on for longer than I can remember. However, I was asked recently if I could take some head shots for a website I am working on. I'd say my camera is above average for a point and shoot, but not sure I would trust its professionalism in this situation. Of course I took to the web to do some research, and came across an article specifically aimed towards graphic designers that asks the readers to recommend their camera of choice. I have been considering the Canon EOS Rebel since way back when they first came out; however, some also suggest Lumix, and I do like the idea of a smaller camera that still takes high quality photos. I will continue to ponder my options some more, and if interested you can read the short article and its reader replies here. And please feel free to leave a comment or shoot me an email with your own recommendations - I'd love the feedback!
